Perugia Salon

A new type of salon/spa was being launched in Edmonton, Alberta yes Edmonton. The two founding partners approached us to develop a name and brand identity that would capture what this salon/spa was about. They envisaged a place where not only would customers be pampered but also a place to learn practical salon secrets about beauty.

The project was not fully funded yet so we took a bold approach. We believed that if the brand identity was complete that it would be easier for them to raise the money they needed to pull the project off. They couldn't afford our fees so we told them that they'd only need to pay us if the project got financed and went ahead.

After some heated internal creative battles, we selected the name Perugia, which was the real name of the fellow who actually stole the Mona Lisa from the Louvre museum in Paris in 1911. We all really like the concept of stolen beauty and as importantly the name had a very pleasing, yet unusual, sound along with a desirable European flavor to it.

The partners were thrilled with the name and to this day wonder how we came up with it. They swore they wouldn't have come up with that name in a million years.

The four-star symbol represents the salons hi-caliber service and an overall rejuvenating experience. All photography is shown on a clean white background to give the sense of simplicity and purity.
